She was a national finalist in the “Poetry Slam” and winner of the music contest “Rockein”. She has also contributed writing for the College of Psychology of Bizkaia, as well as for the Basque suicidology association Aidatu. Driven by a desire to understand the complex workings of the mind and emotions, her first book, “88 Gajos de Vida”, shares what she has learned so far while living with anxiety and depression.

She began by singing her poems with an acoustic guitar, then moved through electronic music, reggae, funk, techno with poetry and hip hop. Her lyrics address social injustice and anti-racist, environmental and feminist themes.

Bomb Bass Hi-Fi

To talk about Bomb Bass Hi-Fi is to trace more than two decades dedicated to reggae and sound system culture by Puppa Fran and Fausto aka Chalice D-Jah. Both started separately: Puppa Fran from Bilbao, driving Bomb Bass HiFi and collaborating with figures such as Dubby Ambassah, Roberto Sánchez and I-Man Cruz.

Meanwhile, Fausto worked from Bergamo with Quickly Burning and later moved his project to Bilbao to launch King Burning Sound System. In 2019 they decided to join forces, merging their paths and their passion for Roots Reggae, Dub and the Sound System philosophy. The union also meant a significant upgrade of their rig, key to delivering powerful sessions full of quality, fuelled by a huge collection of vinyl and dubplates, packed with rarities and exclusive cuts that span the golden years of reggae, digikal and UK Dub.

Every dance becomes an intense experience, where deep rhythms, vibrant melodies and a message of respect, unity and justice act as the guiding thread. Since 2005 they have been residents at Fever Club, first with Black Fever Reggae Nights and later with DUB Fever, which has become a state-wide reference point, hosting outstanding artists from the national and international scene.

Their work also includes several record labels, managed by both over the years, and the radio show Reggae Burning Etxea, which Fausto has hosted since 2007, blending new releases, classics, rarities and unreleased music every Sunday.

Selektah Stepi & Mr Bit

Selektah Stepi, founder of “Bad Sound” (1998), is one of the pioneers of Reggae Dancehall in Euskal Herria. His bags are bursting with records ranging from the most classic reggae to the hardest-hitting dancehall.

His vinyl sessions are always full of energy, with a very polished technique to turn the dancefloor upside down.

His music is a loudspeaker for protest: making consciences dance. We’ve seen him spin vinyl on boats, trucks, buses, rooftops, community gardens… anything goes for the musical agitation Selektah Stepi brings.

He has taken his music through venues, squares and gaztetxes all across Euskal Herria, as well as festivals like Txapel Reggae, Hatortxu, Rototom, Bidasoa Folk, Lego Reggae… plus some tours in Mexico, Japan (with BAD SOUND), Germany, Switzerland, France (with Fermín Muguruza), Catalonia and the Dominican Republic…

He has worked as a producer on BAD SOUND albums BUIAKA, KALEAN, ALDAKETA, BIRSORTZEN…

SUA ZAINTZEN by GLAUKOMA ta BAD SOUND, on NIKOTINA albums NIRBANA, MILA KOLORE… as well as countless riddims and “exclusives” you can only taste in his sessions, alongside Basque, Dominican, African, Jamaican, Mexican and Japanese artists…

On this occasion at Spannabis, Selektah Stepi comes reinforced with Mr Bit on the mic, aka Karibeko Euskalduna, producer and activist from the Dominican hip hop and reggae scene, now based in Euskal Herria, who will set the massive on fire with his rhymes, blending Dominican swing with a sharp Basque axe.

Vittersweet

A blend of pure energy and sensitivity. Vittersweet, a singer and songwriter from Bilbao, has been writing her own songs and covering her favourite artists for years. She colours her music with shades of different genres depending on the message she wants to convey, almost always rooted in Black music. She started out making REGGAE AND DANCEHALL and today you can hear her songs mixing RAP, R&B, SOUL or even BLUES, with touches of POP.

16:30

La Basu

La Basu, born in Bilbao as Elena Caballero Villanueva, is one of the pioneers of rap in Basque and a key figure in hip hop in Euskal Herria. She began in the 90s with the female group Jungla Urbana and later started her solo career, blending rap with reggae, salsa and dancehall. Her music reflects a commitment to the Basque language and gender equality.

Beyond the stage, La Basu runs hip hop workshops at universities and created projects such as Eskina Femenina and Baxterfest to give visibility to women in urban culture. She has also represented Basque at international festivals and received recognition for her artistic and social work.

In 2021 she founded Basasí Management to support women artists in hip hop. Through her work, La Basu continues to unite music, identity and female empowerment within and beyond the Basque Country.

19:00

Kiliki

Beñat Rodrigo (Kiliki, 1999) stands out as one of the names that best explains today’s contemporary Basque sound map. Raised in Arrotxapea, an environment of “bajeras” and street culture, he started as a trumpet player at age 6, but his creative development arrived through sound system culture and home production in FL Studio, the breeding ground of Chill Mafia. Since then, his interests move between traditional folklore —ideas that endure— and the rawest electronics —if it’s hard, you dance—, without losing the link to dub and classic reggae from his time as a selector, all crossed by a pop sensibility and a very recognisable Basque humour. His solo debut as KILIKI arrives with the EP “Hije 1”, co-produced with Gump Wright: seven cuts recorded at home, refined at Estudios Montreal, connecting punk, dub, grime, rumba, synth-wave, UK garage, 808, city pop, booty music and a more nostalgic closing track.

Bombadil

Bombadil is a sound system from Donostia formed by three young people. Although they have been involved in reggae music for longer, they premiered their rig four years ago and are currently working with a configuration featuring four sub-bass cabinets.

They usually play a wide selection of reggae in their sessions, from 60s ska to 90s British dub, with a particular focus on the Roots and Rubadub styles of the 70s and 80s. In addition, the musical selection is combined with live vocals from the singer Beñaranks, delivering toastings in classic Jamaican style.

13:30

Sustrai Sister & Jah Temper

Sustrai Sister & Jah Temper are a young duo combining selection and voice in a live set full of message and energy. Sustrai Sister selects 70s roots, 80s digital, 90s UK sounds and productions up to the present day, weaving decades of reggae with care and coherence. Jah Temper, a singer exploring sounds ranging from reggae to hip hop, brings a conscious message present in every performance.

In addition to singing original tracks, they revisit roots reggae classics with a rap touch, offering a complete musical experience that blends tradition and freshness.

Together they address in their sessions the effects of colonisation and the realities it leaves behind: resistance, memory, spirituality and social awareness. Their music aims to connect past and present, inviting you to feel, reflect and vibrate. Sustrai Sister & Jah Temper’s proposal is roots, love, protest and resistance, uniting selection and voice on a journey where each track has its story and its message.

Dubweiser

Dubweiser is a DJ and selector with more than 16 years of activity, and a member of the Fumany collective.

A DJ influenced by hip hop, reggae and electronic music, his sets move between deep, liquid and techstep, with neuro and roller touches. A regular both in clubs and free parties, he also collaborates with Jarrera Klubb and Kemena Sound System.

16:30

Lilakk B2B Skiat

LILAKK is a young DJ from the Andalusian capital. In Seville she has captivated many ears with her wild sets, and for the past five years in Bilbo she has carved out a solid place in the scene as a resident DJ for Jarrera Klubb, the leading DnB promoter in Euskal Herria right now.

With eight years of musical career behind her in well-known clubs of the genre both in the south and in the north, this young artist has always stood out for her electrifying energy behind the decks. In her sessions she takes us on a frantic ride from dark neurofunk, through deep, and the cheekiest jump-up tracks.

Skiat

Skiat is a young guy from Bilbao who has been DJing since early 2020, motivated by the lack of DnB presence in Bilbao’s nightlife

He is part of kolektivo kotxino, where he began his path in the free party scene. Over the time he’s been mixing, besides playing in many clubs in Bilbao, he has also played in cities such as Barcelona (Razzmatazz and Asteroid 360), Granada (Industrial Copera), Valencia (Zulu Klub), Malaga (True club) and also Zaragoza, Logroño, Pamplona Vitoria… He has also been seen at several festivals such as Monegros Desert Festival, International Dub Gathering, Nu Skool Rave, Radical Rave…

His style focuses on the rolling and Jump Up UK sound, giving his sessions a lot of intensity by incorporating tracks from other DnB subgenres such as deep, dancefloor and neurofunk among others. Reggae and jungle sounds are also very present in his sets, and these are the styles that characterise him.

18:00

Dj Rambla

Dj Rambla is one of the most popular reggae (and related styles) DJs on the national scene, and also widely recognised within cannabis culture for his countless performances at fairs, clubs and cups, winning some competitions and even serving as a judge. For more than eight years he was resident DJ at the legendary Mama Mandawa venue, and he has also performed at major events and festivals in Spain and abroad.

In 2024 he celebrates his 15th anniversary, for which he has prepared a set featuring all his most popular dubplates: exclusive tracks from top singers on the scene who dedicated them especially to him, giving him that recognition—many of them also celebrating our beloved plant.

You can’t miss what he has prepared: a very exclusive, upbeat and energetic session
